Itinerary for the Experience
Expedition to the Heart of the Guainía
Day 1 | Arrival in Guainía and first encounter with the region
We'll meet you at the airport César Gaviria Trujillo from Inírida. The tour begins here: a ride on a motocarro—the typical local mode of transportation—to the main pier.
🚤 Boating on the Inírida River
We boarded the boat to venture into one of Colombia’s most remote landscapes. You’ll cruise down the Inírida River until you reach indigenous communities such as Venado and Remanso, situated opposite the majestic Cerros de Mavicure.
🌄 Nature Walk and Sunset at Cerro Tortuga
In the afternoon, we’ll take a leisurely hike along the Dugjin Trail to the rocky outcrop of Cerro Tortuga. From here, you’ll enjoy an unobstructed sunset view over the rainforest and the Amazonian tepuis.
Return to the lodging, traditional dinner, and an introductory talk about the region and local culture.
Day 2 | Climb to Mavicure and Cultural Connection
We set out before dawn (4:30 a.m.) to climb Cerro Mavicure. The ascent is challenging but rewarding: from the summit, you’ll enjoy one of the most breathtaking views in Colombia, with the Mono and Pajarito hills rising above the jungle.
🍽️ Living Culture: Spicy Cassava
On the way back, you'll enjoy an authentic experience with indigenous communities: the traditional process of turning wild cassava into casabe and mañoco, which form the basis of their diet.
🚣 Rafting and Red Water Rapids
In the afternoon, we went canoeing down the Inírida River to the San Joaquín Canal, a a stream of reddish water Perfect for a natural swim and watching the sunset in a completely secluded setting.
Return home, dinner, and rest.
Day 3 | Honey and Pink Dolphin Trail
We’ll sail to the multi-ethnic community of La Ceiba, where you’ll discover the “Honey Trail”: a sustainable project centered on melipona bees (which have no stingers), which are key to forest conservation and the local economy.
🐬 Pink Dolphin Sighting
During the river cruise, you'll have the chance to see pink dolphins in their natural habitat—one of the most special moments of the trip.

Depending on your flight schedule, lunch and ground transportation to Inírida Airport.

- During the week, the plan also operates on a request basis, but Groups of fewer than 4 people may be eligible for a price adjustment.

To confirm your spot on this trip, you must:

- ✅ Submission of basic traveler information
- ✅ Confirmation of available dates
- ✅ A second deposit ($300,000 COP) must be made on the 10th Days before the start date.
The third remaining deposit ($750,000) is due before the tour begins.
Cancellations:
- The The advance payment of $70,000 COP and $300,000 COP is non-refundable, since it guarantees your spot with the local communities and handles the logistics in the area.
- You can give up your spot to someone else giving advance notice.
- In the event of date changes, these will be evaluated based on the local operator's availability.
