This experience of 5 days invites you to discover Guainía through a profound, respectful, and authentic perspective.
The trip begins in Inírida, the gateway to a region that remains unspoiled, and then explore the Inírida River, among pink-sand beaches, Amazonian forests, and natural formations that seem frozen in time. On the horizon rise the hills of Mavicure, Mono, and Pajarito, stone giants with millions of years of history and profound spiritual significance for the indigenous peoples of the region.
Throughout the journey, you’ll enjoy hikes, open jungle landscapes, natural viewpoints, and encounters with indigenous communities, where culture, oral traditions, and a sacred relationship with nature remain alive. Each day, connect with the elements, the silence of the land, and the vastness of the Amazonian landscape.

Day 1 - Welcome and Hike to the Hills
Pickup at the Inírida Airport César Gaviria Trujillo in Inírida.
Your first transfer will be in Moto Carro vehicles, or as they are known locally, TUK-TUKs. Once at the river dock, our river transfer will take us along the Inírida River to the indigenous community of El Venado or El Remanso, which serve as the gateways to this vibrant territory rich in culture.
A hearty local lunch, made with locally sourced ingredients, will set you up for the afternoon reconnaissance hike.
Don't forget to bring the necessary gear so you can appreciate and enjoy the sunset from the lookout point overlooking the hills of Mavicure, Pajarito, and Mono, which you'll visit on this adventure.
As night falls, enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by a stay at a community lodge equipped with everything you need to rest after your first day.
Day 2 - Hike up Cerro Mavicure, Indigenous Culture, and Swimming at Caño San Joaquín.
As is tradition, we draw energy from the sunrise along with snacks and drinks to give us the strength we need to begin the guided ascent of Cerro Mavicure. As you make your way toward the summit, the views begin to unfold as you and the sun rise together. Once at the summit, the effort will have been well worth it—the panoramic view of the Guainía is breathtaking.
With our hearts racing, a look of wonder on our faces, and our ears hanging on every word the guide speaks, we come to realize just how imposing these guardians of the land are—guardians who have witnessed the passage of time.
Around mid-morning, you’ll head back down to enjoy a delicious breakfast at your lodging. Remember to take your time enjoying it and relaxing; then, take advantage of the opportunity to take photos, enjoy the views of the Guainía River, or just rest there.
Lunch won't be long in coming, but this meal will set you up for your visit to the local Venado Indigenous community, where you'll learn about their worldview, culture, traditional knowledge, participate in craft workshops, and enjoy cuisine that traces its roots back to their ancestors.
As evening falls, enjoy a bath in San Joaquín Canal, followed by a hearty dinner and a pleasant rest in the local community.
Day 3 - Experiencing the Culture of the Lapa Clan: An Encounter with the Roots of Guainía
After breakfast, we'll set out on a tour to the the indigenous community of Edén, specifically La Laja de la Lapa, but not before noting Pink Dolphins, known as Toninas, mammal species that are important to local communities and feature in folklore, with legends claiming that they can transform into humans.
Once we arrive at the Edén community, we will take part in the process of making mañoco (granulated or toasted bitter cassava flour) and casabe, the staple foods of the Amazonian indigenous communities.
After sharing lunch, we will connect with the ancestral knowledge and practices of the men and women of this ethnic group.
At the end of the afternoon, you can enjoy a refreshing swim and take a ride on the Curiara, a wooden boat or canoe.
As night falls, we'll enjoy dinner and a bonfire, where you'll have the chance to learn more about local traditions through oral history.

Day 4 - Inírida River Cruise and Dolphin Watching
We'll have breakfast before heading to the Inírida River Star, The point where three major rivers—the Inírida, Guaviare, and Atabapo—converge, forming a “star” when viewed from the air, which is the source of the Orinoco River.
On a riverside beach, you can enjoy these waters and spot the wildlife that lives here in the distance.
It’s time for lunch—you’ll be able to continue enjoying the foods that these waters and this land have to offer. To do so, we’re heading toward Amanaven, a hamlet in the department of Vichada.
Later in the afternoon, we'll return to Inírida for a city tour of scenic overlooks and cultural sites, plus to our accommodations at the local hotel The Guainía Cabin.
Here, you'll enjoy dinner and a pleasant rest after a day full of activities.
Day 5 - City Tour, Farewell, and Return Home
To start your morning, you’ll enjoy breakfast, followed by a city tour of Inírida, where you’ll have the chance to explore the iconic sites of the capital of Guainía. You’ll have the opportunity to take home a souvenir from the “Land of Many Waters.”.
Around mid-morning, you'll be taken to the César Gaviria Trujillo Airport, where your flight is waiting to take you home.
The return flight carries not only people, but stories as well.

The third remaining deposit ($1,090,000) is due before the tour begins.

- You can give up your spot to someone else giving advance notice.

Accommodation: This experience gives you the opportunity to stay in traditional homes with local families indigenous people of the Puinave and Curripaco ethnic groups, combining comfort and cultural authenticity. It includes two nights at the Los Tucanes Cabin (2 nights), located in the Mavicure Hills, with rooms that have two beds (shared); one night at the Tourist Center La Laja de Lapa (1 night), where you can rest in a bed, a hammock, or the camping area, depending on availability; and one night at a hotel in Inírida (1 night), with the type of accommodations you prefer.
