Explorar Ciudad Perdida (Teyuna) es mucho más que hacer un trekking. Es adentrarse en una de las civilizaciones ancestrales más importantes de Colombia, caminar por senderos que conectan montañas, ríos y selva tropical, y descubrir un territorio sagrado que aún es protegido por los pueblos indígenas de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Durante 4 días y 3 noches recorrerás aproximadamente 47 km a través de un ecosistema único, cruzarás ríos cristalinos, ascenderás montañas y llegarás a uno de los sitios arqueológicos más impresionantes de América Latina: Lost City, construida siglos antes que Machu Picchu.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 | Santa Marta to El Mamey - Camp 1
Approximate time: Santa Marta to the Curb The Mamey sapote (3 hs. in vehicle)
The tour to Lost City It begins the moment we pick you up at your hotel, or you can make your own way to the starting point.
Once you’re on board, we’ll set off in a 4×4 for a roughly 3-hour drive to the village of El Mamey, where we’ll have lunch and begin our hike of about 7.6 km.
Halfway there, we'll stop at the Mirador de las Tres Cruces to sample some delicious fruit and then continue on to the first cabin “Adam” or “Alfredo” a few minutes further on, where we'll spend our first night.
During this tour we will enjoy the natural pools that gives us the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and in which we will take a delightful bathroom.
Day 2 | Camp 1 to Paraíso Teyuna
Approximate duration: 8 to 10 hours | Difficulty: Challenging – 14.7 KM.
Our new day brings another adventure: after breakfast between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., we’ll set out from the first camp to the second camp, “Cabaña Wiwa,” where we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the Buritaca River while we wait for lunch.
After resting, our adventure continues as we head deeper into the Sierra Nevada, passing by a Kogui indigenous village called “Mutanzhi” and we'll continue on until we reach the third camp, “Paraíso Teyuna,” where we'll spend the night on our second day.
The facilities at Camp 3 include Bathrooms and showers, electricity powered by a generator (from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.), as well as a dining area.
Day 3 | Teyuna Archaeological Park
We had breakfast very early, We'll walk 2 km to begin the climb toward our long-awaited Ciudad Perdida: Climbing 1,200 Steps that lead us to this majestic stone city, made up of interconnected paths, retaining walls, and terraced rings where the dwellings of the ancient Tayronas once stood.
The entire area is surrounded by dense vegetation and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, offering us a range of views and landscapes—from the sunniest days to the cloud forest.
Here, too, we can encounter the leader and protector of the natural environment and of this ancient Tayrona Empire.
After our hike, we'll head down to our campsite “Paraíso Teyuna” for lunch. Afterward, we'll head back to the second camp “Wiwa Cabin” Wherever you spend the night, remember that we'll be walking back 7.6 km in about 4 hours.
The facilities at the Cabaña Wiwa campground include electricity, restrooms, and showers (limited).
Day 4 | From Wiwa Cabin to El Mamey and Santa Marta.

Our adventure in the Sierra Nevada is almost over. After breakfast, we'll set out on a hike of about 2 hours and 30 minutes toward the Adán's or Alfredo's Camp where he spent his first night.
Once at the first camp, you’ll take a quick break with fruit and water before continuing on for another 4 hours on foot toward the village of El Mamey, where you’ll have lunch and board a 4×4 SUV that will take you back to the city of Santa Marta between 3:3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, an extra day of hiking and relaxation, allowing for a deeper connection with the region and local communities.
This option has a additional value of $2.150.000 COP and must be requested at the time of booking, since it is necessary to plan the itinerary and logistics in advance.

Keep the following in mind to ensure a great experience.
WHEN Traveling, keep in mind these Tips:
- Backpack n.° 1: of good size
- Shoes: Boots or Tennis (Good Grip) and flip-flops to Rest.
- Clothing: t-Shirts and Shorts Quick-Drying, Socks, Bathing Suit and Long Clothing (For the Night).
The climate and the experience with the natives:
- The trek takes place in a tropical jungle.
- The temperature ranges from 26°C to 32°C. It is usually hot and quite humid; at night, the temperature can drop to 18°C.
- There is a lot of mosquitoes, gnats and other insects, so it is recommended to bring insect repellent.
- There is a high chance of rain, generally in the evening and the path may be parts of apantanadas.
- During the Tour they have to cross rivers and ravines.
- Native people and their customs are deserving of respect and tolerance for cultural exchange is positive for them and for you.
